Cedar Key Vacation Rentals

Cedar Key is what much of coastal Florida looked like before the towers went up. It sits at the end of a causeway on the Gulf side of the state, a small island town of stilt houses, working clam boats and a short main street, with golf carts doing most of the driving.

There is no surf beach here in the usual sense. What there is instead is water in every direction, some of the best birdwatching in Florida, kayaking out to the offshore keys, and sunsets that people genuinely plan their evening around. The clams served in town are farmed in the water you can see from the dock.

Rentals are mostly houses and cottages rather than condos, and the island is small enough that almost everything is a short ride from everything else.
